I've been interested in art as far back as I can remember. A college professor once told me that talent is not inborn but is learned and perfected over the course of many years - that a person needs to draw 5,000 drawings in order to "discover" talent. I don't know how true that is, but I know I've drawn my share of those 5,000 throughout my life.

I was quite fortunate in High School to have a wonderful art teacher. This was a very developmental time for me with art. She simply introduced me to new mediums and allowed me to explore my artistic abilities on my own instead of forcing me to draw this or sketch that. Thanks Ms. Harrison!

I've always been interested in fantasy, spiritual, and science fiction genres - from Dragons and Wizards to Angels and Demons to Aliens and Starships. I find myself admiring artwork of all kinds, but my personal artwork tends to gravitate toward these themes.

     Well, onto the artwork...

My favorite medium is most definitely mechanical pencil. I've always found comfort in being able to pick up a pencil and start drawing without all the preparation, setup and cleanup involved with other mediums.

Being the detail-oriented artist that I am, I find that a mechanical pencil suits my needs for crisp thin lines as well as giving me the option of soft gradient hues. Plus with all the erasing I do, a pencil is damn near necessary. =)

Later on, I adopted the use of pen in my pencil works to bring out details within the foreground of my drawings. It's quite striking how the picture jumps out at you with this technique. You can see examples of this in "Sentinel", "Abandoned", and "Rage".

I've dabbled a bit with paints and I've found my sense of detail carries over from my pencil work to my paintings. Interestingly enough I prefer oils over acrylics (I like the blending traits of oils more) and when I work with gouache/watercolor, it's more remeniscent of the old "color by number" exercises they have in coloring books than it is to the generally "free style" most watercolor artists are used to.

I was first introduced to 3D Graphics with 3D Studio R4. Shortly thereafter I began working with 3D Studio MAX. It's been a while since I've worked with MAX but I'd really like to get back into it and learn animation as well.

I've always been fascinated with photography however my skill with it is hardly more than that of an amateur hobbyist. I take pictures of things that look beautiful or interesting to my eye. The subject matter tends to gravitate towards landscapes, however I'm becoming more diverse in my tastes as time goes by.

Online communities (forums) are a great source of information, friendship, and networking. There are thousands of forums out there - one for nearly every conceivable interest. When signing up for these forums, you are required to choose an avatar - a picture of some kind that represents "you". Often avatars are quite bland and unimginative.

I've been doing custom avatar design for some time now and quite enjoy creating unique designs for people to use as their own personal avatar. I have found that people crave something eye-catching for their avatar.

If you're wanting your own personal custom avatar, all you need do is send me an email with the following information:
  • The URL of the forum(s) you wish to use the avatar on.
  • Your forum name
  • A description of what you want your avatar to look like.
  • If you have a base image you'd like me to use, send it as well.
  • Height and Width requirements (in pixels)
  • Filesize requirements (in bytes)
I charge $10 (USD) per design (I accept PayPal). Your $10 gets you your very own custom avatar in up to 2 different height & width proportions. I'm eager to please, so I'll be sending you a copy of the design prior to completion for your final approval.

In my doodling, I've always found myself stenciling and looking for interesting relationships between shapes and letters. This has of course led to an interest in logo design. Below are a few examples.

[ Elfwood ]

You may also view my artwork at my Elfwood Online Gallery. Elfwood is an online community of amateur artists that display their artwork and get feedback from other artists.

[ Signatures ]

You can also view some signature files that I made for some friends of mine in Asheron's Call. (Most of the artwork there was created by other artists and modified or changed by myself.)

[ Wallpaper ]

     NaughtyDawg Resolutions (1280 x 1024)
     NaughtyDawg Resolutions (1600 x 1200)

These are the wallpapers I currently use for my Desktop. They are made for 1280 x 1024 and 1600 x 1200 resolutions respectively. The other boxes within the graphic show different resolutions. It's main function is to provide a quick size comparison for how websites will look at different resolutions. Simple yet functional.

[ CD Labels ]

In an effort to spice up many a game cd, I've created some CD labels that I printed out and affixed to some of my favorite Playstation games. (Most of the artwork was created by other artists and modified or changed by myself.)
