   [ Character - Jake's Campaign ]

Bipdo : the Halfling Rogue

Mike plays Bipdo (or "Bip"), the Halfling Rogue in the 3rd edition campaign.

Family Background:

Father- (Bipperlimane or Bipper as he was usually referred to) was part owner of fairly decent sized Inn (roughly 10 rooms with 2 "stately" suites for visiting nobles). The Inn's drinking establishment was Bipper's side of the business. All mead was made at the inn with wiskeys and liquors being traded from the southern regions. Bipper's ale and mead were considered some of the finest in the region and many a traveler would stop in just to get a few mugs. Being on such demand Bipper was constantly having to keep tabs on the Inn's help to ensure the stocks didnt slowly wilt away. Eventually Bipper placed hired guards in his stock room to save his most prized reserves that seemed to be disappearing. Little did he know his own son, Bipdo, was very fond of the reserves both for the taste as well as the profitability to his friends! With the on set of the hired thugs Bipdo began having to hone his abilities of stealth and deception to continue with his profitable life.

Mother - (Dofrilias or Dofri as she was usually referred to) was a lover and collector of all stained glass items. Most of the time, to keep Bipdo out of his father's hair and out of trouble with the town watch) she would take him on trips to find new glass and other antiquitables of historical interest. Bipdo would love going on these trips as he got to see many new towns and cities with lots of new faces. And with those new faces came the excitement of new things to "borrow" and show his friends back home. Quite a few times he was able to weasel his way out of being caught. Being small and young definitely had its advantages and provided him a chance to gain affections from many older women who considered him "adorable." Usually along with the stained glass there would be other objects from churches along to see. Over time Bipdo kept wanting to see more of the "symbols" of the religions rather than the fancy pictures or glass. After many years of seeing antique items with his mother Bipdo has now acquired an obsession of finding new (not always antique) religious items of prayer and studying them. Sometimes he finds them interesting enough to keep while others he could seem very interested in but then discard on a moments notice.

Current position:

One of the higher orders in town had a missionary (who had been traveling for 40 years) come back with extremely rare artifacts from one of the oldest church sites thought to have been lost in one of the original wars (?). The church held a proud viewing for all town residents to come see the ancient pieces. Bipdo caught wind of this and was mildly intrigued. As soon as his eyes laid on the gem encrusted cross he knew he had to "examine" it first hand. Long story short the cross eventually made its way into Bipdo's belongings and was being studied. So enamored into his studying of the cross one day he hadn't realized that he had begun walking out from his "secret spot" and ended up in the town square. Eventually being picked up and found guilty of stealing the ancient artifact. Bipdo wasnt concerned about being caught so much as he knew he was about to unlock the cross's magical ability!

Bipdo was eventually released from his short term for thievery and was immediately set out of the family and the family business by his father. His loving mother gave him some money and food to start him off on his journey but also reinforced the need for him to grow up and be on his own.

Bipdo is now wandering the land in search of other ancient artifacts that he may study...... hoping one day he runs across something as great if not greater than the puzzle he almost unlocked!
