   [ Character - Jason's Campaign ]

Kith-Triss : the Elven Monk

Our story begins on a starless, moonless night half a century past. The night the fate of the world would change, 2 souls at a time. For this night, the seventh day of the seventh month of the year of the celestial dragon, the very night that the planets and moons are of exact alignment, the great Elven Sages of the Seven Tribes of Akiralabon came together for one purpose. As it had been every thousand years, on this very day the planets and moons come into exact celestial alignment. This alignment creates a mystical energy driven to one end, to wake a long sleeping evil and release it upon the land. The sages, stood together in a place known only to them, a secret long guarded to any outsider, channeled their power together calling forth a counter force to try and stop this wakening. After the light faded and their sense returned, they looked around, and saw that only three sages remained. The other four were gone. None could say what happened, even their protégés could not say what had happened. They seemed to have just vanished. And as they stood, looking to one after another, they all knew, from the wisest to the youngest, they had failed.
At that very moment, that fateful moment, far from where the sages stood, were born twins. One boy, one girl. Elven twins, born to Elven parents. Monks, in the monastery deep within the Barbanosi Mountains. Many children have been born into the monastery, for that is how they replenish their numbers. This is the first time in the history of the Elven monastery that they had even seen twins born. The first time, in fact, that the great Grand Master Kikkiri could recall any Elven twins, ever. Lady Fate was at work this night, weaving their tangled Skeen.
The children, Kith-triss and Trislyn, were raised and taught exactly as all the rest had been. They were treated no different, by the masters at least. The other children were quick to taunt and tease, but this only served to build the bond between the two even stronger. Never were they separated, never were they apart.
Taught in the style of the Kiran Clan, they were disciplined and dedicated to two primary goals. First, always strive to hone them selves into perfect balance. Perfect mind and perfect body. Second, seek out and destroy all Sarkan Clan. The very heart of the evil of the world in which they live. Ever seeking to perfect their minds and bodies, they travel, as a team, letting the world be their teacher, for the monks can teach them no more.

GM Information:

The last time this great ancient evil was awakened, a monk of the Red Avengers, Szordrin, along with his allies, drove this evil back into its lair and cause it to sleep again. And sleep it did, for 3000 years. Little to nothing is known about this entity. What it is, where it comes from, or what its motivations are. It seems that any who might have such knowledge guard it with their very souls.
Kith-triss and Trislyn are direct descendants of Szordrin. Their destiny it laid out before them, but they know nothing of it. All of the Kiran Clan claim to be descendants of the great monk, however, only Kith and Tris and their mother’s lineage are blood descendants. The only clan members that know, are their mother and Grand Master Kikkiri, however, they are both sworn to silence by the Red Avengers.
The Sarkan Clan is hated by all Kiran Clan members because in millennia past, they used to be one clan. The elders of the Kiran Clan discovered a power that seemed to stem from within each person individually. They learned to harness this power, and channel it into what they called Chi. With this power, they learned to do things no mortal had ever achieved. Some members of this clan grew restless and more and more aggressive. They didn’t want to use the power for good and self-development. They rather wanted to use the power to control and dominate their fellows. A large conflict erupted and the rebels were driven off, but they took with them the knowledge of the power of Chi. They took on the name Sarkan, and the Sarkan Clan was born. From that day on, there has been and always will be a blood war between the clans until the last member of one clan falls.
Hundreds of years passed, and the Sarkans grew more and more evil. They would teach their methods to anyone willing and able bodied enough to pass their harsh entrance tests, and they would use their powers against anyone anytime. As time passed, the Kirans and the Sarkans learned about the ancient sleeping evil as it was about to wake. A rocky truce was agreed upon and the clans came together for the purpose of putting an end to the unknown force.
When the clans stood before the venerable power, the conflict ensued. All on the battlefield were intent upon seeing it destroyed. As warrior after warrior fell to the ground, the beast seemed to grow stronger. A retreat was inevitable, and the force dropped back to regroup and reform. The elders of the two clans met separately and privately. The Kirans, after long hours of study, meditation, and deliberation discovered a way in which they could drive the beast back to where it came from and force it to slumber again. Also, they discovered that their Chi power actually depends upon this entity, for as they got closer to it, their powers grew in strength. They were still no match for the awesome destructive powers of it though, which is why they seemed to not notice their increase in ability. The Sarkans too noticed this boost to their strength, and they devised a plan to attempt to capture and control the beast to make it subvert to their will and hence, use it to rule all.
In the great battle that ensued, known only as The Beginning, the Kirans learned of their betrayal. As the Kirans set about putting their plan into action to send the creature back to whence it came, they were violently and viciously attacked from the back and flank by the Sarkans. As the battle swayed, one single Kiran, the one referred in histories as The One, took the final step to send the creature back to it’s resting place, and in doing so, sacrificed himself. With the evil banished for another thousand years, and both clans having taken heavy losses, they both retreated to their respective holdings to lick their wounds, replenish their numbers, and live to fight each other once again.
Now, this evil stalks the lands once more. None know what it looks like, none know where it will strike next, but all know full well that nothing but destruction will be left in it’s wake.
