[ Character - Jake's Campaign ]
Dorlan Fonstur : the Dwarven Cleric
An outcast was born into a proud dwarven family!
You may ask why was he an outcast? Well that is where the story starts. Dorlan knew ever since he was 25 just a
small lad, that working with stone was not something he wanted to do for the rest of his life. His parents were
very upset, no self respecting dwarf, exspecially a Fonstur would have a son that didnt like stone.
So he was sent off to work in a mine far away. For awhile he did work in the mines it was all he knew. One day
while opening a new area in the mine he found a book with weird symbols, being a curious dwarf still looking
for anything to do but mine he grabed it an hid it away.
He learned many new things about a God named Pelor. This god was mostly worshiped by Humans. But after reading
of the great things this God had done. He commited himself to this God. Months later, like any other day he
was still mining, still trying to figure out what he was going to do with his life, when he heard a great
crash heard from the miness. He ran to go see what had happened. Another miner had been pinned by rocks.
The miners worked furiously to dig the comrade out. They all knew even thou they may be able to dig him out
that he would surely still die. Dorlan prayed silently to his new found Diety Perlor, that he would spare
this comrads life. He grabbed his comrad and gave him a great tug, freeing him from the ruble, while at
the same time he felt a surge of energy flow thru him into his comrad. His comrad was free and was still
alive, many were surprized, even Dorlan. It was at this point in his life he knew his purpose in life.
His first actions was to go to the local apothecary and learned all he could about the healing powers of herbs
and spices. Delivering potions and salves to the community. He began to be known as good luck, because when
Dorlan came to visit you, with his potions and salves, you felt better before he left.
One day when he was tending to a rather seriously ill miner that had fallen down a shaft and broken a few ribs.
No one thought he would live. Dorlan again knew he had to do something. So off he went with his potions,
he poured the potions onto the miner, while again praying to his new found God Pelor, and the man was healed.
The man's wife was so happy that she took the most valuable thing she had and gave it to Dorlan. A Heavy
Mace. As soon as Dorlan touched it a sensation came over him like this mace was a part of him. Like it
would always be with him. He felt as if Pelor was smiling down on him.
With his new found weapon he decided he should learn how to use it. So he ventured out to find those that would
train him. While on his journey to a town he had heard about from the local tavern. He was relaxing by the
fire cleaning his mace that now felt like a part of him. When a bone like figure came out of the forest. It
was weilding some kind of short sword, a large Metal sheild, and some kind of metal shirt. His first
instict was to raise his Mace and rebuke the bone figure in the name of Pelor. To his amazement the bone
figure colapsed to the ground. With adrenaline pumping he smashed the bone figures head over and over as if
he was a screaming woman tring to kill the spider that had invaded her home. After much smashing he realized
it was dead. He sat by his fire and just stared at the body. It was larger then him but not by much. Where
did it come from and why did it want to attack him he questioned himself, no answers were forth coming.
After a night of barely being able to sleep he awoke to the corpse of the bone figure lying there next to
him. In the light it wasnt so bad. He began to search the body and found on it a small pouch with a few gold,
the Large sheild that was in good enough shape and the chain shirt as well as a short sword. Picking up the
short sword gave him a weird feeling that he didnt like, so he decided to leave it behind. Packing up his
new found treasure he headed out.
After a few days he arrived in a large town. In this town he learned many new things, how to swing a mace,
how to use a sheild, use armour, and many types of weapons. Althou the mace was his favorite he would
not be seperated from it. He also learn many new things about his God Pelor. He learned of the comforts
that Pelor permits upon his servants. But the calling to return to the small mining town where he first
learned of his new found God Pelor was strong and he set back out on his journey to return to what he
knew would be his new life, his happiness, he knew he was being sent there for a reason....
