[ Character Generation ]
- Race and Class need to be one from the Players Handbook unless you get permission from the
DM to do otherwise.
- Stats will be rolled using the 4d6 method. Reroll any and all 1's you get,
drop your low die, take your highest 3. Do that 9 times and keep the
highest 6 rolls.
If you wish to roll several sets of stats to get that
"perfect set", keep this in mind; Once you roll a set and decide to
roll another set, you can NEVER come back to a previous set. Once you
pass it, consider it dead.
- You may canibalize any stat by up to 2 points to raise any other stat by
up to 2 points. You can also drop 1 point from 2 stats to raise 1 stat
by 2 points, or you can drop 1 stat by 2 points to raise 2 stats
by 1 point. (are you sufficiently confused yet?) Regardless,
you CAN NOT lower or raise any stat by more than 2 points.
You may also be limited by racial maximum/minimums. See below for details.
Example : -1 Wisdom and -1 Charisma to +2 Strength or vice versa.
Also, -2 Dexterity to +2 Constitution etc...
- All Race and Class bonuses will be applied per the PH/DMG as appropriate.
- All Feat and Skill selections will be made from the PH or applicable
handbooks(S&F, DoF, T&B, Psi, etc) or from the list of
new feats on this site.
- All characters get max hit points for their class at first level. Hit Points must
be rolled for each level attained thereafter.
[ Racial Maximum / Minimums ]
You cannot raise or lower any stat above or below the racial maximum
or minimum respectively.
Exception : The only time you can use cannibalization to increase a stat
above your racial maximum is if you are playing a Man-at-Arms style
character and then you can raise your Strength to a max of 2 points higher
than your racial max. A Man-at-Arms class would be a Barbarian,
Fighter, Ranger, or Paladin. Monks do not qualify as a Man-at-Arms class.
You can determine your racial maximum by taking your stat bonus(+ or -)
and adding/subtracting it from 18.
NOTE : Currently only Jake employs the use of racial maximum / minimums at
character generation.
[ Character Background ]
Giving your character stats is one thing, breathing life into it is quite another.
A character background is as much a tool for role-playing as the character's
stats, quite possibly even more. Before you begin playing your character, you
should consider the following. Try to fill in the blanks for your character.
Even if you can't come up with much, anything is a good foundation to build from.
- Name.
- Race.
- Physical description.
- Where you are from.
- Any family you may have (alive or dead).
- What diety do you pray to (if any)?
- What motivates you - what lead you to becoming what you are today (class-wise)?
- Do you have any particularly strong likes and/or dislikes towards any thing
place, object, person, race, class, or type of creature?
- Do you have any friends or enemies of note (do you have ties to a particular
mages guild for instance, or is there a bounty on your head for one reason or
another, etc)?
- Any other information you want to include to give your character a little
more history or "plot lines" for the DM to be able to draw upon.
Keep in mind, that the more information you give, the more fun the DM can make the game for you!
